Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has expressed his disapproval of the Gunners signing Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling this summer.

Sterling’s future at Chelsea is uncertain after being dropped from the squad by manager Enzo Maresca, making him surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.

As a result, Sterling is expected to leave Chelsea during the current transfer window. However, Petit believes that Arsenal should not be his next destination.

Despite Sterling’s impressive credentials, including his experience with Liverpool and Manchester City, Petit thinks that Mikel Arteta’s side should look elsewhere for reinforcements.

According to the Frenchman, Sterling has two main problems.

“Nope, Arsenal won’t sign Sterling. Since Sterling left Liverpool, he hasn’t improved a whole lot at Manchester City and Chelsea,” Petit said (via Football London).

“Sterling can have big moments but there is no consistency in his performances. He still needs to improve his final ball and needs to score more, this is the main problem.”
