25-Year-Old Housewife Arrested for Alleged Murder of Co-Wife in Katsina State

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old housewife, Rabi’a Labaran, for the alleged murder of her co-wife, Zainab Lawal, aged 30, following a violent domestic dispute in Daura town, located in Katsina State.
According to police reports, the tragic incident took place late on May 24, 2025, behind Dadi Primary School in the Sabon Gari area of Daura.
A heated argument between the two co-wives reportedly escalated into a physical altercation, resulting in the fatal stabbing of Zainab.
The victim’s husband, Nasir Yusuf, returned home from the market at around 11:00 p.m., only to find Zainab lying lifeless with multiple stab wounds. He immediately alerted the police.
Responding swiftly, a team led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) arrived at the scene and rushed the victim to the Federal Medical Centre in Daura, where she was sadly confirmed dead.
During preliminary investigations, Rabi’a Labaran allegedly confessed to the crime, stating that a misunderstanding between her and Zainab had turned physical, ultimately leading to the deadly confrontation.
Confirming the arrest, the Commissioner of Police in Katsina State, CP Bello Shehu, condemned the act and urged the public to seek peaceful and lawful means of resolving conflicts. “Disputes should be resolved through lawful channels. Taking the law into one’s hands only deepens the crisis and erodes the rule of law,” he stated.
The police command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that justice prevails in the case. Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and the suspect remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
