The Ogun State Police have apprehended Olamilekan Akojede, a 35-year-old suspected cult leader, in Oja Odan, Yewa-North Local Government Area.
Akojede, identified as the leader of the Buccaneers Confraternity (Alora), was taken into custody around 2:30 pm on Friday.
He had been on the police watch list for his criminal activities, which had caused panic in the area.
The police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest and announced that Akojede will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
The police command is committed to eradicating cultism in the state and has offered an amnesty program for other cult members to surrender.
The arrest comes amid a recent surge in cult-related violence in Ogun State, resulting in at least three deaths in the past week.
