Manchester United kicked off their Premier League season with a narrow 1-0 win over Fulham, thanks to a debut goal from substitute Joshua Zirkzee.

Manager Erik ten Hag experimented with Bruno Fernandes in a false nine role, but the Portuguese star squandered two clear-cut opportunities to break the deadlock. Zirkzee’s introduction in the second half proved pivotal, as he cleverly found space in the box to slot home a well-crafted pass from Alejandro Garnacho, who himself had missed a gilt-edged chance late on.

The Dutch striker’s decisive strike secured all three points for United, capping off a hard-fought victory at Old Trafford.
