“Commercial sex workers in Kano are calling for a dialogue between the Federal Government and the organizers of the nationwide hunger protests, as the demonstrations have severely impacted their livelihoods.

The curfew and protests have driven away customers, leaving many sex workers struggling to survive.

Several sex workers, including Monica James, Deborah Iliya, and Hannatu Ibrahim, shared their dire situations, highlighting the need for a resolution to the protests. Caroline James noted that the presence of hoodlums and violence has disrupted their business, while an anonymous sex worker reported that some colleagues have been forced to share rooms due to the lack of business.

The situation has also affected other businesses in Sabon Gari, with bar attendant Moses John and goat head seller Kenneth John reporting significant losses.

The sex workers are urging the authorities to relax the curfew and find a solution to the protests, allowing them to return to work and earn a living.”
