
EFCC Arrests 21 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Edo State
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 21 alleged internet fraudsters in Benin City, Edo State. The arrests were carried out on Tuesday by EFCC operatives, following intelligence reports that indicated the suspects’ involvement in fraudulent online activities.
In a statement shared on its X page, the EFCC confirmed the seizure of significant items during the operation, including 10 luxury cars, laptops, and mobile phones. This haul underscores the scale of the suspects’ alleged fraudulent operations.
The EFCC has stated that the suspects will remain in custody pending the completion of investigations. Once the investigations are finalized, the commission plans to bring the suspects to court to face charges related to their alleged involvement in internet fraud. This crackdown highlights the ongoing efforts of the EFCC to combat cybercrime and protect the public from financial fraud in Nigeria.
