CAUGHT! Police Detain Hotel Manager Over Death Of Woman

A hotel manager in Lagos has been detained by the police in connection with the death of a woman who checked into the hotel with an unknown man. According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, the incident occurred on Friday at around 9:30 pm when the pair arrived at the hotel in the Dopemu area.

The hotel manager reported the incident to the Dopemu Police Division at 10:10 pm, stating that the woman and her companion had come to the hotel for a short rest. However, the manager failed to record the identities of the couple, which has raised concerns.

After about an hour, the woman rushed out, complaining of feeling hot, and was given cold water by the manager. Despite this, her condition worsened, and she was taken to a nearby hospital on Dopemu Road, where she unfortunately passed away. The man who accompanied her to the hotel fled the scene.

The police have taken the hotel manager into custody to aid in the investigation, and the woman’s body has been deposited at the Mainland General Hospital mortuary in Yaba for an autopsy. This incident highlights the importance of hotels verifying the identities of their guests to prevent such tragic events.

“He stated further that after an hour, the lady rushed out, claiming she was feeling hot, the manager said he gave her cold water to drink.

“The manager said the lady was still not feeling better and was later taken to a hospital at Dopemu Road, where she later gave up the ghost, while the man that brought her to the hotel absconded.

“Meanwhile, the manager of the hotel is detained to help in investigation. The corpse has been deposited at Mainland General Hospital mortuary, Yaba, for autopsy,” he said.
