CAUGHT!!! EFCC Apprehend 36 Yahoo Boys In Onitsha

Operatives of the Enugu Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have successfully arrested and detained 36 suspected internet fraudsters, commonly referred to as “Yahoo Boys,” at various locations in Onitsha, Anambra State. The arrests took place on October 11, 2024, following a tip-off that linked the suspects to suspected online criminal activities.
Initial investigations revealed that the arrested individuals engaged in impersonating foreign nationals through social media platforms to defraud their victims. This fraudulent activity has caused significant emotional and financial distress to those targeted.
The EFCC operatives recovered a number of items from the suspects, including eight luxury vehicles, as well as sophisticated brands of mobile phones and laptops. This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the EFCC to combat cybercrime and protect the public from online fraud. The commission is dedicated to bringing those involved in such illicit activities to justice while safeguarding the integrity of Nigeria’s financial system.
