The 16-count criminal charges brought against the former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, and two others have been presented to the defendants before Justice Maryann Anenih. The defendants firmly denied all allegations, which include the fraudulent conversion of N110 billion naira for personal use.
Yahaya Bello, who stands as the first defendant in these charges, vehemently rejected the allegations as they were read aloud by the Court Registrar. His strong denial emphasized his stance against the charges.
At the time of this report, the proceedings for bail were about to begin. Umar Shoaib Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu had previously been granted administrative bail by the EFCC, while the former governor appeared in court for the first time.
Further details on the case are expected to follow.
