Diddy faces life in prison over shocking sex trafficking allegations

Hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is at the center of explosive allegations as his federal sex trafficking trial begins, with prosecutors claiming he orchestrated extreme acts of abuse, manipulation, and exploitation. Opening statements commenced on May 12, following jury selection, marking a major development in one of the most high-profile celebrity trials in recent years.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Emily Johnson, Combs forced a male escort to urinate in the mouth of his ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, during one of his now-infamous “freak off” parties—private events described as orchestrated sexual gatherings involving escorts and allegedly coerced women. Johnson told jurors that Cassie choked during the ordeal and that the incident was just one example of the psychological and physical abuse she suffered.

The government also referenced a 2016 surveillance video that previously surfaced online, purportedly showing Combs physically assaulting Ventura in a hotel hallway. Prosecutors presented this footage to illustrate a pattern of violent behavior throughout their relationship.

Testifying under oath, male escort Daniel Phillip claimed he was regularly hired to have sex with Cassie, sometimes receiving up to $6,000 per encounter. He further alleged that Combs would at times give him instructions or personally record the acts. Phillip also recounted an incident where Cassie asked him to urinate on her—though he felt coerced by the powerful environment surrounding Diddy.

“Cassie was actually the one that asked me to urinate on her,” Phillip stated. “Apparently, I wasn’t doing it right, because they both corrected me. I felt like I was dealing with someone who had unlimited power. Even if I went to the police, I believed I could still lose my life.”

Combs has pleaded not guilty to multiple federal charges, including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transporting individuals for prostitution. His legal team has indicated they will argue that Cassie was an active and willing participant in a mutually violent relationship and that the events being described are being taken out of context.

Cassie Ventura, who settled a civil lawsuit against Combs in 2023, is expected to testify during the trial.

The founder of Bad Boy Records was arrested in Manhattan on September 16, 2024, and later indicted by federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York. In total, he has been accused of sexually abusing 120 individuals—including women, men, and, in one disturbing allegation, a 9-year-old boy.

If convicted of racketeering, Diddy could face life in prison. A separate conviction on sex trafficking charges carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years.
