7 Killed In Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Accident

No fewer than seven persons have been recorded dead in a fatal road crash that occurred along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. The incident involved three vehicles: a Mack truck with registration number SEY363YY, a tanker registered as T2900LA, and a yellow bus with registration number LSD180YA.

DAILY POST reports that the accident, which happened at around 7 a.m. on Saturday, involved 15 passengers.

Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ogun Sector Command, confirmed the incident and attributed the cause of the crash to excessive speed on the part of the truck driver. Okpe stated that the truck lost control and subsequently rammed into the other two vehicles.

She said,

“A total of 15 people were involved which comprised of thirteen male adults and two female adults, four persons were injured, that is three male adults and one female adult, while seven people were recorded dead from the multiple crash (six male adults and one female adult).

“ The suspected cause of the multiple crash was excessive speed on the part of the Mack truck which led to loss of control and rammed into the other two vehicles”

According to her, the injured victims were taken to Divine Touch Hospital and Glory Center Hospital Ibafo, while the bodies of the dead were deposited at Idera morgue Sagamu and the crash vehicles towed off the road for free Flow of traffic.

The Sector Commander, Fasakin Akinwumi, on visiting the scene, sympathized with the families of the crash victims and enjoined them to contact FRSC IBAFO for more information.
