NSCDC Arrests 19-Year-Old Suspected Kidnapper in Kwara
The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has detained a 19-year-old suspected kidnapper, identified as Abu-Umar, for prosecution.
State Commandant Umar Mohammed made the announcement during a news conference in Ilorin, revealing that Abu-Umar allegedly orchestrated the abduction of a mother, Isiaka Halimah, and her two sons, Kabir and Hassan Isiaka, on November 7, 2024, in the Gidanrogo area of Ajase-Ipo, Ifelodun Local Government Area.
Abu-Umar, who had previously worked for the family, was tracked down after the kidnappers used his phone number to contact the victims’ relatives. While Isiaka Halimah has since been released, her two children remain in captivity.
The commandant reassured the public of the NSCDC’s commitment to fighting crime and collaborating with other security agencies to secure the release of the remaining hostages.
