Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has endorsed Ivan Toney as a prime target for Arsenal, believing the Brentford striker’s exceptional talent can bolster the Gunners’ pursuit of a title that has slipped through their grasp for two consecutive seasons.
Toney’s impressive track record at Brentford, where he has netted 72 goals and provided 23 assists in 141 appearances across all competitions, has caught the attention of top English clubs, including Arsenal and Tottenham.
His remarkable 20-goal haul in the 2022-23 season has further solidified his reputation, making him an attractive asset for Arsenal as they strive to bridge the gap to the top.
Mikel’s recommendation underscores Toney’s potential to make a significant impact at the Emirates Stadium.

In an interview with BeIN Sports, Obi was asked who he thinks the 28-year-old striker should join and the former Chelsea midfielder said, “I think a club like Arsenal. He has been linked with Arsenal for quite some time now…
“They will need someone like that, a goalscorer. Havertz is doing really well but Arsenal will need somebody like that, a proven goalscorer.
“I look at him and I think he has still got a lot to give in the Premier League. I think he will probably go to a club in the Premier League. I really think Arsenal will suit Ivan Toney, or (Aston) Villa,” Obi Mikel concluded.
