PSG Could Be Banned From Champions League For Not Paying Kylian Mbappe
Paris Saint-Germain faces a potential expulsion from the Champions League due to an unresolved dispute with former player Kylian Mbappe over unpaid wages.
Mbappe, who joined Real Madrid as a free agent this summer, claims that PSG owes him €55m.
The disputed amount includes:
- €36m signing bonus (final payment)
- Three months’ salary
- ‘Ethics bonus’ for the period of April-June 2024
Although Mbappe has severed ties with PSG, he remains in contact with the club to resolve this financial issue.
The situation poses a significant risk to PSG’s participation in the Champions League, highlighting the importance of resolving the dispute promptly.

Le Monde reports that Mbappe’s lawyers have taken the case to the legal committee of the Ligue de Football Professionnel, LFP, and, through an intermediary of the French Football Federation, FFF, to European football’s governing body at UEFA.
The LFP legal committee has the power to impose a transfer ban on PSG until the situation has been resolved.
With Mbappe also inviting UEFA into the case, they can cancel a club’s licence in continental competition, which means PSG could potentially be prevented from gracing the Champions League.
