Leicester City Boss Declares Ndidi Ready For Action After Libya Ordeal
Leicester City manager Steve Cooper has confirmed that midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is in good condition after returning from the international break. Ndidi recently participated in Nigeria’s squad, which faced a harrowing experience when they were held hostage at the Al Abaq Airport in Libya last weekend.
The Super Eagles players endured a challenging situation as they were stranded at the remote airport for several hours after their plane was diverted from its original destination in Benghazi. Despite the distressing circumstances, Cooper assured that they maintained communication with Ndidi throughout the ordeal to ensure his well-being.
Looking ahead, Leicester City is set to face Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday. Ndidi’s recovery and readiness to play will be pivotal as the team aims to secure a positive result in their upcoming match.
“He is fine, that’s the most important thing. He is back with us and safe and well. We were in close contact with him throughout the situation and he kept us updated,” Cooper told The BBC.
“Everyone was in contact, myself included, and thankfully the situation got resolved. He was back with us soon after and has trained since. He is in a safe place and that includes the mental side of it as well.
Cooper also revealed Ndidi has trained with his teammates since his return and is ready for action again.
“He is more than happy to get back to business as usual. He trained yesterday and will train today and will be ready for the game at the weekend.”
