
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has reported significant progress in their operations against terrorism. In the last week, troops eliminated 165 terrorists, apprehended 238 others, and rescued 188 kidnapped hostages across the country.
Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, shared this update during a briefing in Abuja. According to Buba, the military also recovered 153 assorted weapons and over 2,000 assorted ammunition.
In the North East, troops of Operation Hadin Kai neutralized 83 terrorists, apprehended 56, and rescued 50 kidnapped hostages. Additionally, a total of 74 terrorists, comprising 22 adult males, 28 adult females, and 24 children, surrendered to troops between October 2 and 8.
The recovered items include 81 AK-47 rifles, 23 fabricated rifles, 27 Daneguns, 30 AK-47 magazines, over 1,500 rounds of 7.62 millimeter special ammunition, over 270 rounds of 7.62 millimeter NATO ammunition, 21 motorcycles, and 45 mobile phones.
“The location was acquired and attacked with rockets and cannons. Battle Damage Assessment revealed that several terrorists were neutralized, their structures as well as logistics destroyed.
“Our role in the ongoing war is clear and we are winning the war. The military is not oblivious of some security challenges faced by citizens in certain quarters and are reassessing operations in those areas to better secure and protect citizens.
“The armed forces seizes this opportunity to caution persons or groups, from making threats or inflammatory comments on untoward activities against troops presence or deployment as a result of ongoing operations.
“The outcome of such an act are better imagined than experienced.
“Troops recognises the urgency to ensure peace and security for all citizens across the country.
“Accordingly, working on new strategies to better protect the nation and citizens,” he said.
