Nigeria Supplies 24 Hour Electricity To Togo

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) recently disclosed that Nigeria provides a consistent 24-hour electricity supply to neighboring countries, including Niger, Togo, and the Benin Republic. This announcement highlights the contrast between the reliable power supply to these countries and the challenges faced within Nigeria, where the electricity supply remains inconsistent.

During an appearance on the “Sunday Politics” program on Channels Television, TCN’s Chief Executive Officer, Sule Abdulaziz, addressed these concerns. He emphasized that there has been a noticeable improvement in power supply within Nigeria, and many Nigerians are beginning to recognize this progress.

Sule Abdulaziz’s remarks underscore efforts to enhance power distribution domestically, even as Nigeria continues to fulfill its electricity commitments to neighboring nations. The balancing act between international obligations and domestic needs remains a critical focus for the country’s energy sector.

“We suply power to Togo, Benin and Niger. We supply them power consistently. They get power from Nigeria on 24-hour basis and they’re paying.

“Nigerians are getting 24-hour electricity supply. Not everybody. Those people in Band A. You’ll see that they get 20-22 hours.

“Some Nigerians are getting 24 hours. Every distribution company has Band A and that is their priority.”
