

Police Foil Kidnapping Attempt in Katsina, Rescue 14 Victims
A man has died from gunshot wounds after being rescued by police during a kidnapping attempt in Jibia Local Government Area, Katsina State. The victim, along with another injured individual, was rushed to the hospital following the attack but later succumbed to his injuries.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening when suspected armed bandits targeted two commercial vehicles at Dan’arau village along the Magama Jibia road. The attackers opened fire sporadically in an attempt to kidnap the passengers.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Jibia and his team responded promptly, engaging the bandits in a fierce gunfight. Their swift action successfully foiled the kidnapping attempt and resulted in the rescue of 14 passengers from the vehicles.
Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday. He noted that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing bandits and urged the public to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Musa, commended the officers for their bravery and commitment, encouraging them to continue their excellent work. He assured residents of the command’s dedication to ensuring their safety and security.
