President Tinubu Cancels Planned National Broadcast for June 12 Democracy Day, Will Address Nigerians from National Assembly

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has cancelled the national broadcast earlier scheduled for Thursday morning in celebration of Nigeria’s Democracy Day, June 12.

The announcement, originally intended to mark the occasion with a presidential address to the nation, was postponed due to a change in the president’s itinerary.

According to an updated statement released by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), the change was necessary because President Tinubu is expected to attend a special joint session of the National Assembly on Thursday.

The statement, signed by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations at the OSGF, confirmed that the president will now deliver his Democracy Day message directly from the National Assembly chambers.

Despite the cancellation of the national broadcast, all other Democracy Day activities will go on as previously planned. The government assures citizens that President Tinubu remains committed to commemorating the day and reflecting on Nigeria’s democratic journey.

His live address from the National Assembly is expected to highlight key national issues, democratic progress, and the administration’s vision moving forward.
