A pregnant woman, Kemi, tragically lost her life after being denied medical care at a private hospital. According to reports, the hospital refused to treat her because her husband, Akinbobola Folajimi, was unable to pay a deposit of N500,000.

Akinbobola shared a heart-wrenching video on Instagram, capturing the final moments of his wife’s life.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage and concern about access to medical care and the prioritization of patients’ lives over financial considerations.

In the video, the husband was heard saying:

“My goodness, Kemi, look at me. Stay strong, look at me. Think about your kids, please. You need to be very strong for me.”

According to Folajimi, the private hospital rejected them and referred them to a General Hospital in Epe but Kemi gave up the ghost.

Folajimi’s post alleged the unfriendly treatment they received at the private hospital after the doctor demanded a N500,000 deposit before providing any medical service.

Despite Folajimi’s pleas to start treatment while he sourced the funds, the hospital refused and Kemi died.

In his Instagram post, Folajimi wrote:

“Private hospitals in Nigeria. The doctor told me to deposit 500k and I begged him to start doing whatever is needed to save my wife, we needed emergency support while I run around for the money but they drove us out like they don’t care.

“Unfortunately blindly rejected us and asked me to take her to General Hospital at Epe, even the doctor knows that Epe from Lakwe is way too far for such her condition. Before we rushed her to Epe, she was gone

“How???? such a wicked institution, well only jah knows and sees all. this is just too much for me.”
