BREAKING: Ondo APC chairman’s abductors capture ransom bearers, make fresh demand

The Ward 5 Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, Nelson Adepoyigi, has been abducted by unknown gunmen, and two individuals who delivered a negotiated ransom for his release have also been seized.
The shocking incident occurred around 10 p.m. on Monday, when Adepoyigi was attacked outside his residence in Ifon. Witnesses say he was assaulted before being taken away to an undisclosed location by the kidnappers.
Following his abduction, the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N100 million for his release.
After several rounds of negotiation involving community members and family representatives, the amount was reduced to N5 million, along with some food items.
However, in a disturbing turn of events, the two men who volunteered to deliver the ransom, identified as Bayode Loco and Isimeri, were also taken hostage by the kidnappers.
After receiving the agreed N5 million ransom, the kidnappers reneged on their promise to release Adepoyigi.
Instead, they are now demanding a fresh sum of N30 million for the safe return of all three captives.
The development has thrown the Ifon community and the local APC structure into confusion and distress, with fears growing over the safety of the victims.
A community source who spoke under the condition of anonymity confirmed the development, stating that those who delivered the ransom as agreed during negotiations were also held by the kidnappers.
According to the source, the abductors have now demanded N30 million for the release of Adepoyigi, Loco, and Isimeri, a move that has intensified panic among family members and political associates.
The Chairman of Ose Local Government Area, Kolapo Oja, confirmed the incident. He explained that during initial negotiations, the ransom was reduced from N100 million to N5 million and food items.
Oja expressed deep concern over the latest development and urged residents to remain calm while assuring that security operatives are working around the clock to secure the safe release of the victims.
The abduction of the APC chieftain and the betrayal involving the ransom bearers have once again raised alarms over the growing insecurity in Ondo State, particularly in Ifon and its surrounding areas.
As of the time of this report, the location and condition of Nelson Adepoyigi, Bayode Loco, and Isimeri remain unknown.
