Seyi Law Hails Tinubu Over Fuel Subsidy Removal
In a recent statement, popular Nigerian comedian and actor Oluwaseyitan Aletile, widely known as Seyi Law, expressed his support for President Bola Tinubu’s decision to completely remove the fuel subsidy. While acknowledging that this move has led to significant challenges and hardships for many Nigerians, Seyi Law believes it is ultimately a step towards the betterment of the nation.
Seyi Law emphasized that the removal of the fuel subsidy was a necessary action that should have been taken much earlier. He argued that if the subsidy had been eliminated sooner, Nigerians would have already endured the initial pain associated with the transition and could now be enjoying a more advantageous living situation. By addressing this long-standing issue, he asserts that the country can progress towards a more sustainable and prosperous future.
In conclusion, Seyi Law’s remarks highlight the complex relationship between economic policies and the everyday lives of citizens in Nigeria. While the immediate effects of the subsidy removal may be difficult, he encourages a forward-thinking perspective aimed at achieving long-term benefits for the nation.
In his words:
“Fuel subsidy should have been long gone. If it had gone in 2012 we would have gone through the pain process and by now we would have been healing,” he said.
“In 2012, I was the only celebrity that went on stage to kick against the anti-fuel subsidy movement. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala came out to say that the nation could not afford to pay salaries. “We were borrowing to pay salaries.”
