Popular American Rapper Tay K Sentenced To 80 Years In Prison For Murder

US rapper Taymor McIntyre, known professionally as Tay-K, has been convicted of murder for a second time. A jury found him guilty of fatally shooting 23-year-old Mark Anthony Saldivar in San Antonio in 2017. Tay-K is already serving a 55-year jail term for a separate fatal shooting and now faces life in prison with the possibility of parole for this latest conviction.

Prosecutors argued that Tay-K shot Saldivar during a botched robbery attempt. However, his defense team criticized the police investigation, claiming it relied too heavily on statements from witnesses in the car at the time of the shooting, which they argued were self-serving. Despite these arguments, the jury delivered a guilty verdict.

This latest conviction adds to Tay-K’s existing 55-year sentence, and he now faces a potential life sentence. The case highlights the serious legal challenges the rapper faces, with significant implications for his future.

“Taymor McIntyre is not guilty of capital murder, murder, or manslaughter, and the reason for that is very simple.

“You have to do it right. You have to do the work. And this case clearly demonstrates the work wasn’t done,” John Hunter, one of McIntyre’s attorneys, told jurors during closing arguments last week.

The jury found Tay-K not guilty of capital murder, which would have meant a life sentence without the chance of parole. They will now hear evidence in the trial’s punishment phase before deciding on a sentence.
