According to the spokesperson of the Abia State Police Command, DSP Maureen Chinaka, the successful operation followed credible intelligence gathered by law enforcement officers.

She disclosed that the rescued children, whose ages range from six to fourteen months, were found in distressing conditions inside the couple’s apartment.

DSP Chinaka confirmed that both suspects are currently in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Umuahia, where they are undergoing interrogation.

She added that the couple will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the ongoing investigation.

In a move to ensure the well-being of the rescued minors, the children have been handed over to the Abia State Ministry of Women Affairs for proper care and rehabilitation.

The Abia State Police Command reiterated its commitment to combating crime and protecting vulnerable citizens, especially children.

It also issued a public advisory urging parents and guardians to be vigilant and avoid leaving children in the care of unfamiliar or unverified individuals.
