Wife Remanded For Allegedly Stabbing Husband To Death In Ibadan
In a recent ruling, the Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court has ordered the remand of 33-year-old Olajumoke Olalere at the Agodi Correctional Facility in Ibadan for allegedly stabbing her husband, Oluwasegun Tinubu, to death. The Chief Magistrate, Olabisi Ogunkanmi, did not take Olalere’s plea due to a lack of jurisdiction and directed her remand pending advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The court has adjourned the case to March 5, 2025, for mention.
According to the prosecution, represented by Cpl. Akeem Akinloye, the incident occurred during an argument at their home in Iyana-Agbala, Ibadan, on October 30. Olalere is accused of fatally stabbing her 39-year-old husband during this dispute. The charge she faces is punishable under the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000, highlighting the serious nature of the offense.
This case reflects ongoing concerns around domestic violence and the legal repercussions of such actions in Nigeria. As the legal process unfolds, the community and authorities are closely monitoring developments surrounding this tragic incident.
