Nigeria’s National Grid Faces Third Collapse in a Week, Causing Nationwide Blackouts

Nigeria is facing yet another power crisis as the national grid has collapsed for the third time in just one week. As of 9:20 AM, the Nigerian System Operator’s portal reported zero megawatts (MW) of electricity, worsening the country’s already unstable electricity supply.

These repeated grid failures have had significant repercussions, impacting both businesses and households that are already struggling with unreliable power sources.

The frequent power outages follow remarks from the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu. He recently emphasized the urgent need for a more robust and resilient power infrastructure.

At the unveiling of Hexing Livoltek, an electricity meter manufacturing company in Lekki, Lagos State, Adelabu underscored the importance of developing power grids at regional or state levels. This approach aims to alleviate the frequent collapses impacting the national grid and enhance overall stability in power supply across the country.
