NO MOVEMENT!! Flood Cuts Off Highway In Bauchi State

Flash floods have severed the Azare-Ja’amare road along the Kano-Maiduguri Highway in Bauchi State, causing disruption to transportation in the area.

During an inspection of the affected site, Governor Bala Mohammed revealed that he had informed the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, about the situation. Umahi had previously visited the area last week when the road was initially threatened by flooding.

Governor Mohammed warned that nearby communities are at risk of being submerged if the water flow is not managed effectively.

This incident occurs barely two weeks after a downpour severely damaged a federal highway connecting Kano to Maiduguri, specifically between Malori and Guskuri villages in the Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State. The flood created a large crater in the middle of the road, forcing motorists to seek alternative routes.

The repeated flooding in the region highlights the need for urgent attention to prevent further damage and ensure public safety.

In the North-East geopolitical zone, Bauchi has been affected by flooding in the last weeks, with lives lost and thousands of houses destroyed.
