Liverpool Star Jota To Miss EFL Cup Clash With Brighton
Liverpool’s forward Diogo Jota is set to be sidelined until after the November international break, as confirmed by manager Arne Slot. The Portuguese striker suffered a rib injury during Liverpool’s 2-1 victory against Chelsea on October 20, following a collision with defender Tosin Adarabioyo.
Since the incident, Jota has missed two consecutive fixtures and has not yet resumed training. The 27-year-old will be absent for at least the next four matches across all competitions.
The international break is scheduled to take place from November 11 to November 19, which means Jota’s return to action is unlikely until after this period. Liverpool fans will be eager for his recovery, as the team looks to maintain their performance without one of their key players.
“Conor [Bradley] is training with us again so maybe he could be in the squad [for Wednesday’s trip to Brighton in the EFL Cup],” Slot said.
“Jota not, Alisson not, Harvey Elliott not and Federico [Chiesa] not.”
Asked whether Jota could return before the international break, Slot replied:
“No, it will be after that. Elliott the same.”
Liverpool also face Brighton, at Anfield, in the Premier League on Saturday.
