Manchester United, a Premier League giant, is set to undergo a significant restructuring process, which will involve cutting approximately 150 to 200 jobs at the club.
This move is part of a broader transformation plan aimed at restoring profitability to the club, which has faced financial challenges over the last five years.
The decision to cut jobs was communicated to staff by Chief Executive Omar Berrada, who emphasized the necessity of this move to ensure the club’s long-term viability.
This is not the first time the club has undertaken job cuts, as around 250 positions were eliminated last year under the guidance of co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
The club’s statement highlighted that these changes aim to foster sustainability and enhance operational efficiency for the future. The tough decisions are deemed necessary to stabilize finances and ensure the club’s long-term viability.
He said:
“We have a responsibility to ensure the club is in the best shape possible to compete at all levels.”
