Legendary midfielder Luka Modrić is set to bid farewell to LaLiga this weekend as he prepares to play his final league match for Real Madrid. The Spanish club confirmed the news in an official statement released on Thursday, marking the end of an era for one of the game’s most decorated players.
Modrić, who joined Real Madrid 13 seasons ago, leaves behind an extraordinary legacy at the Santiago Bernabéu. The 39-year-old Croatian has amassed a record-breaking 28 trophies with the club, including five UEFA Champions League titles, making him one of the most successful players in Real Madrid history.

A Ballon d’Or winner in 2018, Modrić has remained an influential figure throughout the 2024/25 season. He featured in 34 LaLiga matches, starting 16 of them, showcasing his enduring quality and leadership on the pitch.
In its official statement, Real Madrid praised Modrić as “one of the greatest legends of our club and of world football.” The club also announced that a tribute will be held in his honor this Saturday during their final LaLiga fixture of the season at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Looking ahead, Modrić will continue with the team until the conclusion of the FIFA Club World Cup, which kicks off on June 18 in the United States. Following that tournament, his historic spell with the club will officially come to a close.
