Tragedy struck in Kwara State when four people, including a mother and her three children, died from suspected food poisoning in Ilorin.
The incident occurred in the Oshin Area along Asa-Dam Road.
The victims, Abibat, Zainab, Abdulfatah, and their mother, fell ill after consuming contaminated rice on Saturday morning. Abibat, the eldest child, was the first to show symptoms, feeling weak by evening. She was rushed to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, where she sadly passed away.
Upon returning home, the parents found the other two children, Zainab and Abdulfatah, vomiting and immediately took them to the hospital. The mother was admitted the next day, but tragically, she and the remaining two children died at midnight.
The family is now preparing for their burial at the Muslims’ Cemetery in Ilorin. The father, who is still receiving treatment at the hospital, is left to mourn the devastating loss of his loved ones.
