Former Kaduna Central senator Shehu Sani has advised Nigerians hiding in the US to avoid deportation to return home voluntarily. Sani shared his thoughts on his X page, urging those hiding to humbly come back to Nigeria.
Sani’s advice comes amid concerns over US President Donald Trump’s mass deportation plan, which targets undocumented immigrants. Trump had promised to begin a deportation program during his presidential campaign. His administration planned to prioritize deporting immigrants who have committed crimes and those whose asylum bids were denied.
Thousands of people have reportedly been deported to their countries of origin, sparking anxiety among immigrants. Sani’s statement encourages Nigerians hiding in the US to take proactive steps and return to Nigeria voluntarily, rather than risk being deported.
He wrote;
“Nigerians in the US hiding from Trump’s deportation should just humbly come back home.”
