Peter Obi’s strong ally, Obaze dumps Labour Party

Oseloka H. Obaze, a former diplomat and Secretary to the Anambra State Government, has announced his resignation from the Labour Party.
Obaze, who served as an adviser and key figure in the party, cited irregularities in the governorship primary election held on April 5 as the reason for his departure.
In a letter addressed to journalists in Anambra on May 4, Obaze stated that the election process was “fraught with outright irregularities, bothering on fraud and criminality.”
He criticized the party’s leadership for not aligning with the party’s constitution, core values, or democratic principles.
Obaze also mentioned the ongoing leadership crisis at the national level of the Labour Party as another reason for his resignation.
He confirmed the authenticity of his resignation letter, stating that it “speaks for itself.”
Obaze’s resignation comes after his involvement in the Labour Party, where he served as the campaign manager for Peter Obi’s presidential campaign in the 2023 general elections.
He was also a prominent figure behind the Obidient Movement.
