Over 55 Persons Dead In Israeli Strike On Gaza Residential Building
In a devastating incident, more than 55 individuals were reportedly killed in an Israeli air strike on a residential building in the northern Gaza district of Beit Lahia. This information comes from Gaza’s civil defense agency, highlighting the ongoing toll of the conflict in the region.
The targeted building, a five-storey structure that housed the Abu Nasr family, was struck during the night’s violence, resulting in significant casualties. According to agency spokesperson Mahmud Bassal, many are feared trapped or injured beneath the rubble.
The Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia has received the bodies of 15 victims from the air strike. Hospital director Hussam Abu Safia stated that an additional 35 wounded individuals, most of whom are children, are currently being treated at the facility. The humanitarian crisis continues to escalate, drawing international attention to the urgent need for a resolution to the conflict.
Safia reported severe shortages of medical supplies and staff, exacerbated by recent incursions at the hospital by Israeli forces during their operations in the area.
Israel’s military stated that it is investigating the reports of the civilian casualties. It noted that additional strikes were conducted in Jabalia, reportedly targeting Hamas militants in an effort to disrupt their operations in northern Gaza.
The airstrikes and ground operations have intensified since October 6, forcing tens of thousands of Palestinians to evacuate northern Gaza.
Hundreds of casualties have been reported by Gaza’s civil defense agency amidst ongoing bombardments.
