In a shocking incident, two brothers, Yahaya Abdulkadir (24) and Abdullahi Abdulkadir (18), from Gauraki village in Zaria LGA, Kaduna state, have been arrested by the police for allegedly burying their colleague, Abubakar Aliyu (20), alive over a missing phone.
According to the police spokesperson, Mansir Hassan, the drama unfolded when Abdullahi’s phone, valued at ₦35,000, went missing at their Abuja residence, where they worked as laborers.
Aliyu was accused of theft, and it was decided that his daily wages would be used to replace the phone. However, Aliyu denied the allegations and returned to Zaria.
On August 10, 2024, the brothers tracked Aliyu down, took him to an unfinished building, and brutally buried him up to his head, binding his hands and feet and covering his mouth.
Fortunately, a passerby heard Aliyu’s groans and alerted others, leading to his rescue. The suspects were arrested and confessed to the crime, claiming it was a form of interrogation to recover the stolen phone.
The police have condemned this act of jungle justice and assured a thorough investigation.
