

Edo Police Parade 23 Suspected Cultists And Child Abductors
On Friday, the Edo State Police Command paraded 23 suspects allegedly involved in various criminal activities, including cultism and child abduction. The Commissioner of Police, Umoru Ozigi, revealed that 19 of the suspects were apprehended for cult-related offenses, while four others were implicated in child abduction cases.
The arrests were executed in multiple locations throughout the state, including Benin City, Jattu/Ibie Road in Etsako West, the Benin-Agbor Road bypass, the Benin-Lagos Expressway, and Comprehensive Road off Warrake Road in Auchi. These efforts form part of the police’s ongoing commitment to tackling crime in the region.
The suspects are reported members of notorious secret cults such as the Eiye Confraternity, Vikings, Aye Confraternity (Black Axe), and Buccaneers. They have been accused of terrorizing communities across Edo State, contributing to the rise in violence and fear among residents.
During the operation, law enforcement recovered a significant cache of weapons from the suspects, including nine pump-action guns, three single-barrel guns, two fabricated Beretta pistols, three cut-to-size guns, 82 live cartridges, 14 expended cartridges, a battle axe, a gun muffler, and a Lexus ES 330 vehicle.
Commissioner Ozigi assured the public that thorough investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged in court once the inquiries are completed. He expressed gratitude to residents for their cooperation and valuable information, emphasizing the need for ongoing collaboration to maintain peace and security in the state. Some suspects reportedly confessed to their crimes, providing details of their involvement in these illegal activities.
