EFCC finally breaks silence on arrest of VeryDarkMan

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has clarified its position on the ongoing investigation of Martins vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan who was arrested.
This comes amid widespread public interest and speculation surrounding the case. VeryDarkMan was arrested in a joint operation by the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police Force, and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at a bank premises in Area 3 Abuja for alleged Cyberstalking.
The EFCC has revealed that Otse was initially invited for questioning in connection with multiple petitions alleging serious financial crimes, but he refused to show up despite several invitations.
The petitions pertain to grave allegations of financial malfeasance, which the Commission cannot ignore.
The EFCC has stated that Otse’s arrest was not informed by his unguarded attacks against the Commission’s operations, but rather by the need to investigate the serious allegations against him.
The Commission has obtained the necessary Remand Order to hold Otse in custody and has offered him administrative bail, which he will be released once he fulfills all the bail conditions.
The EFCC has appreciated the interest of Nigerians in its operations and has called for the Commission to be allowed to do its job without fear or favor.
The Commission has assured that as soon as investigations are concluded, charges will be filed.
