

The devastating flood disaster in Jigawa State has claimed more lives, with the death toll rising to 22. Initially, 16 fatalities and 3,834 displaced persons were reported.
However, the situation worsened when heavy rains triggered a building collapse in Kirikasamma Local Government, resulting in six additional deaths.
According to Alhaji Musa Muhammad, Information Officer for Kirikasamma Local Government, the tragic incident occurred in Gamji village, Tarabu ward, where four sons of Malam Yahaya lost their lives after their room collapsed while they were asleep. Furthermore, in Fandin village, two more fatalities were reported when their homes caved in due to the intense rainfall.
The village head, Malam Umar Yakubu Mukaddas, confirmed the incident, highlighting the escalating severity of the flood disaster in the region.
