Court Jails 15 Yahoo Yahoo Boys In Edo State

Thein Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has successfully secured the conviction and sentencing of 15 internet fraudsters before Justice A. N. Erhabor of the Edo State High Court, located in Benin City. This operation underscores the ongoing efforts by the EFCC to combat cybercrime in Nigeria.

The convicted individuals include Nosa Gift, Igbinosa Eghosa, Nosazee Nosakhare, Imumonlen Jude, Promise Ogheneghere, Osadiaye Osasenaga Perfect, Ugiagbe Miracle, David Julius, Nosakhare Godswill, and Ajayi Precious. They were prosecuted on separate one-count charges that included obtaining money by false pretenses, retention of proceeds of crime, impersonation, and possession of fraudulent documents.

In his ruling, Justice Erhabor sentenced Omotoyo, Kabiru, Iboyirode, Blessing, Etinosa, Gift, Eghosa, Nosakhare, Jude, Ogheneghere, Perfect, Julius, Godswill, and Precious to two years in prison each or a fine of N200,000. Meanwhile, Ugiagbe Miracle received a three-year prison sentence or the option to pay a fine of N200,000.

Additionally, all the convicts have been ordered to forfeit their phones, laptops, and any money traced to their bank accounts to the federal government. This decisive action by the EFCC reiterates its commitment to eradicating internet fraud and safeguarding the integrity of Nigeria’s financial system.
