A 14-year-old boy has been sentenced to six months in a juvenile home by a Jos Magistrates’ Court for stealing two grinding machines valued at N50,000.

Magistrate Shawomi Bokkos also imposed a fine of N20,000 on the boy, who admitted to the crime.

The theft was reported on July 1 at the Laranto Police Station by community leaders. Although the boy’s accomplices remain at large, the stolen machines were recovered during the police investigation.

The magistrate urged the young offender to reform, noting that the crime is punishable under the Plateau Penal Code Law.

The sentence aims to rehabilitate the minor and prevent future offenses.
