Nigerian rapper Vector has spoken out against certain hip-hop industry executives, alleging that they prioritize profits over artist well-being.

In a recent post on X, Vector claimed that these executives engage in contractual greed, compromising the interests of their artists for personal gain. His comments came in response to ongoing discussions about the state of hip-hop in Nigeria, sparking a conversation about the ethics of industry professionals.

According to Vector, Hip-Hop has the most vocal ignorants who know nothing about the art style of different artists they speak about.

Here’s a recomposed version of Vector’s post:

“I’ve avoided responding to hip-hop commentaries for a while because the genre is filled with vocal critics who don’t understand the art or styles of the artists they’re discussing. However, hip-hop is about speaking truth to power. It doesn’t need fake industry players using their wealth and influence to fight lyrical battles.

Personally, I’ve had beefs with rappers, but I’ve never tried to sabotage their careers. In fact, I’ve helped some artists despite our differences, and I know they wouldn’t return the favor if the roles were reversed.

The sad truth is that some hip-hop affiliated executives and rappers in Nigeria are guilty of contractual greed, selling out their own artists for personal gain. One of them, who you all praise, helps labels exploit artists by buying their catalogs cheaply, taking advantage of the exchange rate.

Many of you mistake these weak individuals for hard rappers just because they claim to be on tracks. What’s the difference between them and politicians? Is it just the tracks? Laughable.”
