‘Women Inspire My Music’ – Wizkid
Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Ayodeji Balogun, famously known as Wizkid, has revealed that women are the driving force behind his music. In a now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter), he stated, “Women inspire music! Gods on earth.”
Renowned for his romantic tracks that celebrate women, Wizkid has continually drawn inspiration from them throughout his career.
His latest album, Morayo, is a heartfelt tribute to his late mother, Morayo Jane Balogun.
The album has achieved remarkable success, breaking records for African music on Spotify. It surpassed Tyla’s first-week streaming record of 46.4 million streams by reaching an impressive 48 million streams in just six days.
Additionally, Morayo set a new benchmark with 52.8 million streams in its opening week, marking the largest ever for an African album on Spotify.
