Veteran rapper Ruggedman has made a bold claim about his pioneering status in the Nigerian music industry.
In a recent interview with Echo Room, he revealed that he was the first young Nigerian artist to own a car, a feat he achieved in 2004 when he purchased a BMW for N900,000.
Ruggedman emphasized that this milestone was significant, as it predated similar achievements by other notable artists like P-Square and D’banj.
He also highlighted that, at the time, only artists signed to Kennis Music had access to cars, which were company-owned and not personally owned by the artists themselves.
Ruggedman’s statement underscores his contributions to the industry and solidifies his position as a trailblazer in Nigerian music.”
He said:
“I bought my BMW for N900,000 in 2004. I was the first young Nigerian artist to own a car before them P-Square and D’banj,” he said.
“The only artists that had cars then were signed to Kennis Music. They didn’t own the cars. They were only given to them for official use. Tuface shared the same car with his labelmates then.”
