Afrobeats Star Orezi Opens Up on Why He Faded From the Music Industry

Nigerian Afrobeats singer Orezi has shed light on the reason behind his noticeable absence and decline in the music scene over recent years. The “Ogede” crooner admitted that a lack of ambition and drive played a major role in slowing down his career.

Speaking in a recent episode of Trending on Hip TV, Orezi reflected on how his mindset and lifestyle choices contributed to his fall from the spotlight. He revealed that becoming too comfortable with his success made him lose the competitive edge needed to thrive in the highly dynamic Nigerian music industry.

“I faded out [of the music industry] because I became less ambitious and comfortable with where I am,” Orezi confessed. “I was always on vacation, enjoying myself. I took myself out of the competition.”

He emphasized the crucial role consistency and competition play in sustaining success as a musician. Using Davido as an example, Orezi praised the superstar’s relentless work ethic despite already achieving massive fame and wealth. According to him, Davido’s continued success is driven by his ability to hustle like an upcoming artist.

“Competition fuels consistency,” Orezi noted. “Look at Davido for example, he hustles like an underground artist. He has money and fame but he still maintains his hustling spirit.”

Orezi’s candid remarks have sparked conversations among fans and fellow artists about the importance of staying motivated, even after hitting major milestones.

His story serves as a reminder that in the fast-paced world of Afrobeats and Nigerian entertainment, ambition and hard work remain essential for long-term relevance.
