People Die In The Prison Everyday – Seun Egbegbe


Nigerian filmmaker and producer Seun Egbegbe has opened up about his harrowing experience in prison, sharing his story on the ‘Talk to B’ podcast with actress Biola Adebayo.

Egbegbe revealed that during his time behind bars, he prayed fervently for survival, relying on his faith to get him through the challenging period.

Expressing gratitude to God for his survival, Egbegbe painted a stark picture of life in prison, highlighting the dire conditions that lead to the loss of lives daily.

His account sheds light on the harsh realities faced by inmates in Nigerian prisons, emphasizing the need for reform and improved living conditions to prevent unnecessary deaths.

“People died every day in that prison. It is not a good place. I told God that if you truly exist, then I must leave here alive.

“If you go and return, thank God. Know that He loves you and has given you a second chance to live.

“There is a cell for new prisoners; it is called ‘welcome cell’. If 20 people were brought in overnight, at least two would be found dead by the following morning.”
