SAD NEWS! Unknown Gunmen Kill 13 Farmers


Tragedy struck in the Alawa community of Shiroro Local Government Area in Niger State, as gunmen suspected to be bandits killed 13 persons on their farms. The incident occurred at the Ijuwa fringes of the community, leaving residents in shock.

According to the LGA Chairman, Akilu Isyaku, who confirmed the killing in Minna on Wednesday, the bandits shot nine of the victims to death, while four others were killed at a different location on the same day.

A resident revealed that the bandits targeted the community, alleging that members supplied intelligence to security agencies on bandits’ movements.

Niger State’s acting Governor, Yakubu Garba, condemned the attack, describing it as “satanic and callous.”

In a statement, Garba extended his condolences to the affected families, community members, and the entire people of Shiroro LGA over the unfortunate incident.

The attack occurred at a critical time when farmers were expected to spend more time on their farms.

However, several farmers have deserted their farmland for fear of attack, following the incident. The community is now gripped with fear, and the incident has raised concerns about the safety of farmers in the region.
