NDLEA Destroys 7 Hectares of Hemp Farms in Kogi State, Arrests Three Suspects
The Kogi State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully destroyed seven hectares of hemp farms and arrested three suspects in a recent operation.
The operation took place in the Ikeja Forest and Maikeke Village in the Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area between August 9 and August 15.
According to State NDLEA Commander Umar Yahuza, three hectares of hemp farms were discovered in Ikeja Forest, where three suspects were arrested.
An additional four hectares were found in Maikeke Village, but the owner of that farm managed to escape. The operation was part of the agency’s crackdown on illicit drugs in the Kogi East axis, following intelligence reports from local residents.
Commander Yahuza stated that the NDLEA is actively pursuing the escaped suspect and is committed to eradicating drug trafficking and abuse in the state.
He urged the public to support the agency’s efforts in combating the consumption and distribution of illegal drugs, which are harming many young people in the community. The successful operation marks a significant step towards reducing drug-related activities in the region.
